This year in journalism was both exciting and eye-opening for me. It was my first time taking a class like this, and I’m really grateful for the experience. I had a lot of fun writing and learning, and it helped me grow not just as a writer but also as a thinker.

Throughout the year, I wrote three articles: Sisters vs. Friends, The Magic of Curiosity: How Asking Questions Can Change Your World, and The Power of Saying No. Each one taught me something different. Writing about relationships in Sisters vs. Friends helped me reflect on personal dynamics and how they shape us. How Asking Questions Can Change Your World made me more curious and aware of the importance of communication and how questions drive connection and understanding. The Power of Saying No was probably the most empowering to write because it made me realize how setting boundaries is important for mental health and self-respect.

What stood out most this year was how journalism encourages looking at things from different perspectives. It really opened my eyes to how much is going on around me and how powerful our voices can be when we take time to observe, ask, and write. I learned to not use so basic words in my writing as well. I’ve incorporated more profound words into my everyday vocabulary and for that I thank you. I also appreciated how we were encouraged to be honest and authentic in our writing :)

If I could improve on anything, I’d want to work on writing more efficiently and confidently from the beginning of the process, instead of second-guessing myself. But overall, I feel proud of what I created this year and thankful for the support and feedback I received.

I’m leaving this class with a better understanding of storytelling and a deeper appreciation for journalism as a whole. I’m going to miss this class.
